Ky’vanna had made her way into Stormwind for the second time in about two weeks. She had only risked entering the large city for a single reason; all the supplies she needed to get were all in one location. She made purchase after purchase…using her honest hard-earned coin, not like she could successfully steal what she needed during the day…too hard to hide her actions with the sun beating through shop windows. She had bought a bunch of random things, fabric, grain, bread, seeds, rope, lantern oil, nothing that a typical person wouldn’t be buying.
Towards the end of the day, as the sun finally had set, Ky’vanna slung the bag of supplies over her shoulder; she started towards the front gates of the city. At this point in the day, most people were heading home to their families, with supplies and staples of their own. Ky’vanna really didn’t look out of the ordinary, other than the fact she was an elf in a city populated by mostly humans. As Ky’vanna left the Cathedral district, she headed through one of the alleyways as a shortcut. It was then she noticed the footsteps behind her, one of her long ears twitching at the sound. She was being followed? Why? The crew hadn’t done anything as of yet to mark themselves as criminals…at least nothing she was aware of. She didn’t hurry her steps, nor did she look over her shoulder just yet. Although the footsteps were getting closer and closer as she kept to her slower pace. Instead of heading for the city gates, she entered the Trade District again and went directly for the inn. At least there, there would be other people, and if this person’s intent was to harm her, he’d have a harder time surrounded by innocent people.
She could sense the person following her was getting closer and closer, her heart was pounding in her chest as she saw the inn up ahead. Ky’vanna desperately needed to stay as calm as possible to not arouse suspicion in the person following her. Closer and closer he got to Ky’vanna, she barely reached the door of the inn before he was right behind her. Tugging the heavy door open, Ky’vanna felt him actually bump into her! “Sorry!” She exclaimed and he muttered a gruff response that couldn’t be deciphered.
Once inside the inn Ky’vanna was greeted by the innkeeper. The man went to one of the tables inside and grabbed a seat, even sitting in the corner of the inn; his eyes were boring into Ky’vanna. For some reason this human was watching her really closely. “Ma’am, I am need of a room for the evening,” She said in a soft tone, careful to not sound nervous.
The innkeeper, a small rather plain looking human woman nodded and smiled brightly. “Of course, you’re in luck; we have one vacant at this time.” She said.
“I’ll take it then, I have a long trip to make in the morning, and I need my rest.” She responded, as she fished around in her pouch until she found the required coin.
“It’s the one in the front…” The innkeeper said and would then hand Ky’vanna a key.
Ky’vanna nodded and adjusting the heavy supplies on her shoulder, she made her way upstairs quickly. She moved to the front of the hallway and entered her room, locking the heavy door behind her. She dropped the bag of supplies on the floor. Lighting the lantern in the corner, she stripped off her cloak, and checked it for those little bugs that the crew had found on the ship before moving. She checked over all of her gear, and clothing, then put it all back on when she found nothing. Checking her crossbow, and her daggers, she put her cloak back on and went to the window. When the man left, she planned to follow him to see exactly where he had come from originally.
She had made the decision to follow him when she had noticed how intently he had been watching her. Why on earth would a human be watching a kaldorei that intently? Unless he thought the kaldorei was a criminal or wanted something from her…like maybe the location of the Stormrunner? Well too bad for him, because he would get nothing from her, even if she had to kill him, which she was prepared to do.
She made her way over to the window which overlooked the street in front of the inn. She would see him if he left, which made this room extra convenient. About a half hour passed, and then light spilled onto the street below, and Ky’vanna watched with a smirk as the man left the inn, heading left down the street.
She dashed from the room, careful to lock her supplies in before running down the stairs. The innkeeper looked at her curiously as she took note of the elf’s quickened pace.
“I’ll be back,” She said quickly to the innkeeper before heading out the door as well and making a sharp left in the direction the man had went. Her silvery eyes could see rather well during the evening hours, as she was used to long hours in dark forests. She saw his silhouette headed in the direction of Old Town? She frowned at that. There wasn’t much in Old Town…other than the Pig and Whistle tavern…and of course…S1:7’s headquarters were reported to be somewhere in that section of Stormwind.
Now that didn’t sit well with Ky’vanna at all. Her leather boot clad footfalls made nearly no noise, and she crept along the walls of buildings to stay out of the man’s notice. She had even pulled her cloak’s hood up over her head. All of her armor was well-oiled so that the leather stayed strong, so an added benefit of that, it didn’t creak or shift as she moved.
She followed the man all the way across the bridge leading into Old Town, but then, he just disappeared. Vanished completely from her line of sight, Ky’vanna’s eyes went a bit wide at that, and she stopped in her tracks…eyes trained on where he stood. She knew, that rogues were sneaky and could still be around even though they weren’t seen. There was a puff of smoke, and she stiffened as the man appeared again behind her. Her hand shot for the dagger at her waist, but his hand closed around her wrist before she could grip the hilt. Leaning in he whispered, “Be careful who you trust…pirate.” Before he disappeared again leaving Ky’vanna standing there trembling.
When she was sure that he was gone this time, she dashed back towards the inn, channeling the power of a cheetah. She wanted to be behind a locked door now, and then…she wanted out of this city as soon as it was light…
